Student Involvement in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) For Families

This training is intended to promote and encourage student and family involvement in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) development process and Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings. Participants will identify ways to build and encourage their child’s self-determination skills in order to meaningfully participate to the greatest extent possible, in their own educational planning and active involvement in annual review meetings. The Student-Directed IEP approach can be utilized at any age from K-12th grade. Tools, resources, and research-based information will be provided.

Free Speech & Language Screening

Come join Baker Speech Therapy at the Larchmont Public Library with your child, aged 2 years to Middle School, for a complimentary speech and language screening. This screening serves as a means to assess whether your child's speech and language skills are appropriate for their age.

Please note that a speech and language screener is not a formal evaluation; instead, it helps to identify if additional evaluation is needed.

WCBA's Education Committee presents: Special Education & The School District's Legal Obligations to Students with Disabilities

In June, AZL&C’s Ariel S. Zitrin, Esq., along with a former colleague, resurrected the previously defunct Westchester County Bar Association’s Education Law Committee. AZL&C hit the ground running by scheduling a Continuing Legal Education program for other attorneys on October 17. Autism Acceptance Month

  • Autism Acceptance Festival and 5K

This event will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, with the 5K starting at 8:30 AM and the festival from 9 AM–1 PM.

  • CPWestchester

    This fundraiser will end on April 5, 2024, and will include a celebration at the United Preschool Center in White Plains. For $5, you can purchase a "Butterfly of Acceptance" that will be custom designed by students.

  • New York Yankees Autism Awareness Day Game

    This event will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

  • Eurydice Roman Comedy Show

    This event will take place on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Producers Club Theaters in New York, NY.

  • Westchester Community College Autism Awareness Day Table

    This event will take place in March 2024, and will feature Jake sharing resources and tools about working with people with autism.

  • Turtle Dance Music Autism Awareness and Acceptance Show

    This event will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2024, and will be open to children and families of all ages.

Rebecca School North Family Open House

Rebecca School North will open its doors in September 2024 for the 24-25 school year. They utilize the DIR/Floortime(R) methodology and serve students ages 3-21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating and communicating, including autism spectrum diagnosis. After 18 successful years of providing services to students with neuro-developmental delays, Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC.
